Hawaiian Kou Memorial Cremation Urn 7" x 5" x 9" Large Adult Cremation Urn Ashes Koa and Kou are Different Wood Species KOU042617-1

The Urn in the picture is the Kou Urn you will receive !

This Large Cremation Urn is made out of Hawaiian Kou ( Cordia Subcordata) that has been the most cherished wood of old Polynesia for centuries. Massive stands of Kou were destroyed in Hawaii in the late 19th and early 20th Centuries by a small insect and all of the real large Kou trees were decimated. Today Kou is being replanted in Hawaii as a landscape tree by the City of Honolulu and developers in new projects. It will take many years before the large sized Kou trees are once again abundant to harvest. To get Kou of the color of these Urns I have for sale you need to wait about 50 years for the deep brownish black color to appear.

The Large Kou Urns for sale here are approximately Seven (7) inches wide by Five (5) inches deep by Nine(9) inches high. These are about the same size as my Large Koa Urn and the weight is about the same.. The Urn is covered with a precatalyzed semi-gloss lacquer finish.

NOTE: I am not set up to do engraving myself as I don't have the equipment but if you are in Honolulu I can advise you where you can get the engraving done.
