71mm or 2.80" Diameter Floral Pin Frog or Kenzan for Japanese Ikebana Vase or Stand

The Japanese Art of Ikebana became a favorite pastime for me several years ago and as a woodworker I enjoyed making Ikebana Vases and /or Ikebana Stands. Being fortunate enough to live in Hawaii I have been surrounded by beautiful wood and between the two loves I started making these Ikebana Vases.

Kenzan or Floral Pin Frogs used to be found all over peoples homes in Hawaii when I was growing up but today cost of the metals has driven people in the floral trade to go to Floral Putty for most flower arrangements. Today there is a great interest in Japanese Ikebana and with that interest has come the need once again for the Kenzan or Floral Pin Frog. I am offering several different sizes here in different quantities for those who might be interested.

This sale is for (one) 71mm or 2.80" Diameter Kenzan or Floral Pin Frog. This Kenzan has a lead zinc base and has Stainless Steel Pins. This is a medium large sized kenzan being 2.80" in diameter with a weight of about 11 ounces. The stainless steel pins on this kenzan are about 12mm or about 1/2" long and the height from floor to top of pins is almost 1".

The Kenzan can be cemented in flower arrangement containers with the use of a little clear silicone adhesive (smells like vinegar). Another major use of these Pin Frogs is in the pottery trade where flower arranging cups and containers are now being made to hold water and flowers. ( See my other Sales).

I have placed a nickel in the pictures to give you an idea of the size of the Kenzan. The last picture shows this 71mm Kenzan along side my 80mm Kenzan and my 100mm Kenzan

Many people in the scrap-booking and card business use this size kenzan to hold there projects for taking photos . It make a great note holder (card holder) for picture taking.
