The Japanese Art of Ikebana became a favorite pastime for me several years ago and as a woodworker I enjoyed making Ikebana Vases and /or Ikebana Stands. Being fortunate enough to live in Hawaii I have been surrounded by beautiful wood and between the two loves I started making these Ikebana Vases.
This Ikebana stand varies from dark to light brown with decent amount of distinct curls. It is also spalted. This gives it Unique coloration and texture. Spalting is a type of decay caused by fungi and natural decay. No there is no active fungi in this piece. It is completely dried and sealed from moisture with a pre-catalalyzed lacquer that is water resistant and durable.
Please note: The surface of this piece has the light texture of the wood grain. Another unique quality of the spalting. The texture is smooth and follows the undulations of the wood grain. Again it is sealed by the lacquer.
This Curly Koa Piece of wood is about 9 1/2" long, 7" wide and 2 inches tall. It was cut flat to show off the Natural Edges of the Curly Koa Wood and the varied grain patterns of the wood. The Koa Vase comes with an inch and seven eights tapered pin frog made of brass with a black pewter finish. The Dried Eucalyptus Leaves of green and purple are used in this setting instead of fresh flowers to give you and idea of what kind of arrangements can be used.
This piece was free formed by myself with the use of my bandsaw and orbital sanders to provide a natural piece of practical art used for flower arrangements. The Dark Brown Color is the natural color of Curly Hawaiian Koa and is finished with a Precatalyzed lacquer finish so it won't spot with spilled water.
It will be shipped by USPS Priority mail anywhere in the United States.
If you do not like the Ikebana Vase upon receipt you may return it for a no questions asked refund of your purchase price upon return of vase with shipping paid by you.
The Flowers in the pictures are not included in the sale as I'm sure you can find much better flowers in your yard.
Feel free to ask any and all questions you have about the product or Ikebana woodworking in general.

Shipping from United States
At the present time I only ship to the USA due to negative Customs experiences I have had in the past.
I ship either US Priority Mail or US First Class mail depending upon the items weight. I try to ship the same day but because of my location in Hawaii your package will usually ship the following day as long as it is not a Sunday or Holiday.
I have a very liberal Return Policy in that you can return anything you want for any reason by notifying me within five days that you want to make a return.
I will refund your money for the product upon receipt of the product back. Shipping fees to return product will be at customers expense. Items may be returned up to 30 days after receipt by customer and notification to me of intent to return product.
A 10% Restocking Fee may apply for certain items.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why don't you ship outside of the USA ?
I will consider and have shipped to other Countries but only after we agree on prices and shipping. This must be done through the Convo system here on Etsy and is not available for all items due to the weight and shipping restrictions on some of my items.
I will however ship to friends or relatives of customers who are located in the USA and then they can make shipping arrangements to the customers location overseas.
