The small tool has a tool on each end.....1) has a tube end that fits over the Pin itself so you can bend it upright and 2) the other end is a straight pointed end that can help you straighten pins that have bent over and are tangled together so they need to be separated so you can use the other end to straighten them...

I purchase many kenzan from manufacturers and even though they are packed with care many of the Pins are bent over in packing and transporting. I try to check all of my Kenzan for bent Pins before I ship them out to customers but large quantities are hard to go through and shipping has a tendency to Bend the Pins.
